11 great #podcasts that will #inspire #teach #entertain & #encourage you! Click To Tweet
It is safe to say I have become a podcast junkie! I seldom listen to the radio anymore, I’ve worn out 3 sets of earbuds in 18 months, and I’ve started to think of some of my favorite podcast hosts as friends whom I actually miss between episodes (#notTOOstalkerish 😯 ). It wouldn’t be fair to keep my favorite finds to myself, so as part of the Everyday BETTER! series, I’ve chosen “Listening” for the letter L and have made a list to get you started.
Podcasts For the Curious
The Way I Heard It With Mike Rowe I may be dating myself here, but how many of you remember Paul Harvey and his famous line, “And now you know the rest of the story…”? Even as a teenager, I was fascinated by the little known tidbits he delivered every weekday at noon. Mike Rowe reminds me of Paul Harvey — he finds the twists we didn’t know were in the stories we have always known. As he likes to say, his podcast is “short mysteries for the curious mind with a short attention span.” That makes me his ideal listener!
Today In History A history lesson in less than 5 minutes a day, now that’s my kind of schoolin’! Sometimes it’s a big event, and sometimes it’s a bit of history trivia, but it’s always a concise little dose of information that will make you look smart when you casually mention it to your family over dinner.
Serial I was late to the party on this one, and while I found it fascinating, I haven’t yet finished the entire first season. Marathon listening is not what I would recommend on this one; it was a bit intense, and I had to take a break before I could finish.
What Should I Read Next? My sister-in-law, Monica, told me about this one and if you love to read you’ll enjoy it, too! Anne Bogel asks each guest to talk about 3 books she loves and 1 she hates. Based on that conversation, Anne makes 3 recommendations for the reader. I’ve listened to about 4 episodes and my reading card is full for the next several months!
Podcasts For the Blogger, Writer, and Online Entrepreneur
ProBlogger Podcast Just the most straightforward, actionable, common sense, down to earth, good-for-the-regular-blogger information out there. I know it may not be clear, but this is one of my favorites. 😉
The How They Blog Podcast This podcast actually stopped broadcasting over a year ago, but I it was still great information. I listened to the entire series on one road trip! Kat Lee’s interviews with female christian writers from all walks of life provide lots of inspiration and ideas! I discovered so many great writers through this series, and learned so much!
Online Marketing Made Easy With Amy Porterfield Much of what Amy covers is well beyond my scope as my blog is not an online business, however her information is helpful and applicable to bloggers as well. Her podcasts are also full of solid information and inspiration without a lot of fluff.
Podcasts For Your Inspiration
The Happy Hour With Jamie Ivey I’ve only listened to a few of these, but have found them, well, happy! Jamie’s interviews cover a variety of topics and I’ve enjoyed every one so far.
Organize 365 Podcast The title says it all! Lisa Woodruff is a professional organizer and let’s face it, I can use all the help and inspiration I can get in this area.
Podcasts For Your Spiritual Growth
God Centered Mom Podcast The primary audience for this podcast is moms with children still at home, but every episode I’ve heard so far has spoken straight to me in some way. The one I heard today made me cry. That’s a good thing. 😉
Flower Mound Women’s Bible Study Jen Wilkin’s Bible studies dig into the Scriptures in a way I’ve never been taught to do. She doesn’t just inspire, she teaches. I’ve never downloaded her study guide (just listened to the podcast), but I really need to in order to help keep all of the details straight! I recently purchased her book Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Our Minds, (affiliate link) where she teaches how to study the Bible with our heads so that our hearts are transformed.#Podcasts are a great tool!
