That little box was so pretty under the tree, and my husband was so excited to give it to me. He repeatedly tried to get me to open it, however, I would shake my head and say, “Not yet.” I knew what was in that box, and it terrified me! The irony? I had requested it myself months earlier!
Finally, a “big girl” camera! An iPhone it ain’t, folks! Now, I have a whole bunch of photo-savvy friends who are thinking, “Really? You are scared of a camera?” 🙄 Granted, one would think that since I had been coveting this bad boy for a long time, I would be super excited to rip it out of the box, charge the battery, and start snapping amazing pictures!
Guess how often I’ve used it?
Never. Not once.
It’s time I stopped being intimidated by this little thing I can hold in my hands — good grief, I am a grown woman! I am perfectly capable of reading a Quick Start Guide! So bring on March’s “1st on the 1st”! The challenge this month is to face that piece of equipment that is supposed to be helpful or fun, but has instead intimidated you from the beginning. You may have made further progress than I have (after all, you may have actually taken yours out of the box!), but perhaps you are still not comfortable with it. Your nemesis doesn’t have to be a camera, it could be anything: a computer, a tablet, a phone, a power tool, a kitchen appliance, a snow blower, the GPS on your car, whatever!)
March is the month we get past the basics! There is way more about photography, and even about this camera, than I can possibly learn in one month, and you may be facing the same issue. However, by the time all this snow melts, I’m going to be photographing spring in all its loveliness — and NOT in automatic mode! Yep, I can almost hear Christopher Robin whispering in my ear, “You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” Pooh Bear and Friends are so encouraging, don’t you think?
Which intimidating piece of equipment will you conquer this month by blowing past the basics as you accept the “1st on the 1st” challenge?
