What if we all truly “did justly”…
…what if stereotypes did not exist and the value we gave to each person reflected the value Jesus gives them?
What if we all “loved mercy”…
…what if forgiveness was a stronger emotion than our hurt and we loved others regardless of their circumstances? And regardless of our own?
What if we all “walked humbly”…
…what if our words, our actions, our emotions were not dictated by our pride and we saw others through the same eyes as we see ourselves?
What if we — what if I — really lived these words?
…what if we realized how a just bit of humble understanding could change the landscape of our communities, our countries, our world?
Today I am praying for the grace to change a few landscapes, because each one of us really can change the world.
A note from Wendy. A version of this post has been tumbling around in my head for many months, but it was just never right. My incessant need to explain everything and give examples kept getting in the way. Ultimately, these words need no explanation: “…do justly, love mercy, walk humbly…” Daily news headlines shout of a hurting world and we feel powerless. Let’s not accept that lie. We DO have the power to affect change — we even have step by step instructions!
