Sometimes, I can literally taste the season, especially autumn! This time of year just looks and feels the way it tastes: rich, spicy, cinnamon-y. If you are looking for a moist and delicious bread to savor this season, I have found one for you. Apple Pumpkin Bread from Recipe4living.com is autumn on a plate, people. How else can you describe something made with pumpkin, apples, ground cloves, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon-sugar topping…you get the idea.
I made this so many times last fall, and it will be showing up on my table again in a few days. Because this loaf is so moist, it is a great option to send in that care package since it won’t dry out quickly. It can also stand to be stored in the refrigerator for a few days, even after a couple of days in the mail. The only change I would recommend is replacing at least half of the granulated sugar in the topping with brown sugar (I used all brown sugar). If you use all granulated, it has a “sandy” texture that I didn’t particularly like.
